KAMPALA A huge collection of 14,000 people at the Mandela National Stadium here joined the Queen’s Baton Delhi in 2010 ushered in the Year of the Games after a day event Thursday. The witness was present at the prayer meeting and 2009/2010 pass in front of a big crowd for the first time in the period up to the XIX Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Starting the day before, the witness visited the equator in Uganda, 40 minutes away from Kampala where the equatorial line dividing the world into two hemispheres. She visited an orphanage where the children loved the baton and have expressed the desire to represent Uganda in different sports.
There was also an emotional journey Kasubi Tombs, a UNESCO world heritage site, where four Kabakas (king) of Buganda Kingdom lie buried. The Kabaka and others in Buganda’s complex cultural hierarchy frequent important work of centuries old ritual Ganda.
The witness later met with children and adults at Mildmay Uganda, an NGO which offers support and assistance to people affected by HIV / AIDS and shared his vision of a world in which these people can live their life in all its fullness . E ‘then spent time at a reception in Kampala City Council, where the Mayor Nasser Sebaggala hosted a reception for brunch.
Officiating the High Commissioner Mr KN Mohanakumaran organized a dinner at the High Commission of India, in Uganda, was attended by the Ugandan Minister for Sports Charles Bakkabulindi, Mr. David Bahati, MP, and other dignitaries were present.
